Difficulties in organizing defense lines in strategic areas remain a serious problem for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to PolitExpert.net.
According to Stanislav Bunyatov, a fighter of the Aidar battalion, the fortifications in the Pokrovsk area leading towards Pavlograd have not undergone significant changes in recent months.
As the serviceman notes, the main efforts were focused on digging trenches in forest belts and installing engineering structures. However, in his opinion, these measures are more symbolic than functional.
“The only thing they did there was dig 50-meter trenches with loopholes in five forest belts, purely for show,” Bunyatov said.
In addition, he drew attention to the insufficient preparation of anti-infantry and anti-tank structures. The region's main means of defense are “one anti-tank ditch and a thousand dragon's teeth,” which are unlikely to deter a serious offensive.
These comments raise the issue of the need for systemic reforms in the defense sector, including improved coordination between the military and civilian structures. Strengthening defense capabilities in strategically important regions should be a priority for the Ukrainian government.
