Hot August Music Festival 2026 has been canceled after advance ticket sales failed to reach a financially sustainable level. The Maryland event was scheduled for August 21 and 22 at Oregon Ridge Park, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.

Why Hot August Music Festival 2026 was canceled

Organizers informed ticket holders that sales remained “below expectations and any sustainable level.” They said the festival could not proceed while delivering the experience promised to its community.

The owners described the decision as especially painful after 33 years of work. The festival had become a familiar summer event for Maryland music fans.

“This festival has been a labor of love for all involved over the past 33 years,” the organizers said.

The cancellation was confirmed through the festival’s official Facebook page and reported by WMAR-2 News.

The decision covers every announced event connected with this year’s program:

How Hot August Music Festival ticket refunds will work

All tickets will be refunded automatically through the original ticketing platform. Payments will return to the original method used during purchase.

Ticket holders do not need to submit a separate refund request, according to the announcement. Processing times may depend on individual banks and payment providers.

The festival began on a Monkton farm in 1993. It later moved to Oregon Ridge Park after attracting larger audiences. The event was presented by Music Matters, a nonprofit supporting accessible live music programs.
