Anne Arundel County speed camera enforcement is expanding with another school-zone location. Police announced the camera for Annapolis Area Christian Upper and Middle School on Tuesday, August 11, as Baltimore Chronicle reports.
The new location was first reported by WMAR-2 News. Anne Arundel County also maintains an official automated speed enforcement program with operating rules and citation information.
Where the new Anne Arundel County speed camera will operate
The camera will be placed at Annapolis Area Christian Upper and Middle School. It will operate from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Drivers should remember several key details:
- Location: Annapolis Area Christian Upper and Middle School
- Hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Days: Monday through Friday
- Warning period: first 15 days
- Citations: issued after the warning period
These hours match Anne Arundel County rules for school-zone cameras. The county says school-zone enforcement continues during summer and other weekdays when classes are not held.

When tickets will begin
Drivers will not receive citations immediately after the camera becomes active. The system will issue warnings during its first 15 days at the location.
After that period, cameras can record vehicles traveling at least 12 mph above the posted limit. The violation is civil and does not add points to the vehicle owner’s driving record.
| Speed above limit | Current fine |
|---|---|
| 12–15 mph | $40 |
| 16–19 mph | $70 |
| 20–29 mph | $120 |
| 30–39 mph | $230 |
| 40+ mph | $425 |
Maryland’s tiered speed-camera penalties took effect on October 1, 2025. Anne Arundel County says each citation undergoes review before being issued.
Anne Arundel County continues expanding camera enforcement
The new school location is part of a broader expansion of Anne Arundel County speed cameras. Police previously announced cameras around Two Rivers Elementary on Conway Road in June.
County officials say locations can be selected or moved after reviewing traffic data, crash history and resident complaints. All active speed-camera zones must also have signs warning motorists about automated enforcement.
