Young Maryland soccer players watched Team USA secure a World Cup knockout place with a 2-0 victory over Australia. The Baltimore County campers turned the national team’s success into a lesson about training, discipline and sportsmanship, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.
Baltimore County Campers Celebrate The USA Victory
Players from Keith Van Eron’s Pro Soccer Camp gathered at Ryleigh’s Oyster in Hunt Valley. They had spent the day training before watching the Group D match together.
Camp director Keegan Bremer remembered attending similar events during his childhood. He wanted the latest generation to experience that same excitement.
“We just didn’t want to miss it,” Bremer said. “We wanted to let the next generation get in on it.”

The victory secured advancement with one group match remaining. It also gave the campers examples they could study during future sessions.
Young Players Find Lessons Beyond The Score
Camper Eddie Hanley focused on the Americans’ shooting and movement. Other players noticed weaker passing during the closing stages.
The campers highlighted several lessons:
- practise shooting under pressure;
- maintain accurate passing;
- respect referees and opponents;
- avoid unnecessary yellow or red cards.
Bremer used the match to discuss discipline and responsible behavior. He believes watching elite players can motivate children to train harder.
The camp operates throughout the summer and includes soccer, flag football and weekly trips. Watch parties will continue while Team USA remains in the tournament.
