The United Kingdom has supplied Ukraine with another batch of Franco-British Storm Shadow cruise missiles ahead of the winter season. The exact number of weapons delivered remains undisclosed, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Bloomberg.

According to informed sources, the decision to provide these long-range missiles was made in anticipation of the cold months. London is concerned that Russia may intensify attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian facilities, prompting the British government to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities during this period.

The shipment of Storm Shadow missiles follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s refusal to send Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv, reiterating that Washington does not plan to expand the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine.

Bloomberg notes that the Storm Shadow missiles have already proven effective in striking strategic enemy targets. In October, Ukraine’s Defense Forces reported hitting the Bryansk chemical plant on Russian territory, including with the use of these missiles. This marked the first confirmed use of Storm Shadow against Russian targets since Donald Trump returned to the White House.

The British government traditionally does not disclose details about the quantity of weapons provided and rarely issues official announcements regarding deliveries. Ukraine first employed Storm Shadow against Russian military targets in November of last year — just a day after deploying American ATACMS systems, following the decision by then-President Joe Biden to permit limited Ukrainian use of this weapon to strike targets within Russian territory.
