U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Russia’s refusal to engage in fair and meaningful negotiations to end the war against Ukraine could bring severe negative consequences for the country, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing Politico.
According to Vance, Washington has made significant efforts in conducting talks with both Ukraine and the Russian Federation, emphasizing that these negotiations were extremely good-faith. He also noted that U.S. President Donald Trump is becoming increasingly impatient with Moscow’s position.
The Vice President further stressed that the statement from the White House that, with the support of the European Union, Ukraine may restore its territories within internationally recognized borders, reflects the actual reality on the ground.
“If the Russians refuse to engage in good-faith negotiations, I believe this will be very, very bad for their country. That is exactly what the President has made clear. This is not a change of stance, but a recognition of the reality on the ground,” Vance emphasized.
