The day before, Pope Francis advised Ukraine to “have the courage of the white flag” and sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian Federation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the pontiff's calls.

A representative of the Russian Presidential Administration said that the head of the Catholic Church spoke in favor of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. According to Peskov, Putin has repeatedly stated that Moscow is “open” to “solve problems” in this way.
NBN writes about this with reference to the Russian propaganda agency RIA Novosti.
The speaker of the Kremlin dictator complained that statements by the pontiff and other parties regarding dialogue between countries “run up against absolutely harsh denial” by the Ukrainian leadership, which does not allow any negotiation process with the Russian Federation.
According to the press secretary of the Russian leader , this is due to the fact that Kiev feels the support of its European allies, who declare that they will do everything for the strategic defeat of the terrorist state. Peskov noted that this position of Ukraine’s partners is a “deepest mistake,” which supposedly confirms the course of hostilities.
Also, a representative of the Russian Presidential Administration accused France of “increasing tension” by trying to “put together a coalition” from states that are ready to send troops to Ukraine. He threatened that such activity in Paris “could have very undesirable consequences.”
Recall that last year the Pope got into a scandal due to statements about “great Russia”, which pleased the Kremlin.
