Coach Oleh Fedorchuk believes that experienced defensive midfielders need to “free up” space in the national team for a younger playing squad.

As reported by “NBN” with reference to the thematic portal “Zbirna”, the famous coach Oleh Fedorchuk has formed the opinion that the call-up of defensive midfielders Taras Stepanenko and Serhiy Sydorchuk to the national team for the game in the framework of the “League of Nations” against Albania (September 7) and the Czech Republic (September 10) will not “refresh” the actions of the Ukrainian team.
According to Fedorchuk, the coach (Serhiy Rebrov) is allowed to determine for himself whether he is good or effective, but if success is to be achieved, “then in a sense he should even be a dictator.”
In particular, calling up footballers who rarely play for clubs and are of a relatively “respectable age” (Stepanenko and Sydorchuk) somewhat distorts the sound logic of decision-making, especially given Ukraine’s failure at Euro 2024.
The coach drew the line:
Are we satisfied with this result and now expect Stepanenko and Sydorchuk to play better? For me, these names are significant in Ukrainian football, but in the context of history, coaches should look for new players like this, 20-22 year old players.
