As NBN reports with reference to analytical material from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the plant's capacity for the production of “Shaheds” (located in the special economic zone of Alabuga, Tatarstan), in October-December 2024 were able to produce only slightly more than 6,000 kamikaze drones and about 1,000 drone imitators throughout 2024.
During January-September 2024, the above-described enterprise “rolled off the conveyor belt” 5,760 “Shaheds”, and this demonstrates a decrease in the rate of production in recent times.
According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, the plant is experiencing difficulties with the stability of supplies of the required amount of materials to maintain the previous rate of production of “Shaheds”: the Russian Federation either continues to rely on Iran, in terms of supplying components, or is trying to acquire high-tech foreign components, ineffectively bypassing Western sanctions.
ISW believes that the Russian defense industry complex, judging by everything, is experiencing difficulties with the production of parts (based on Iranian, and not Russian design solutions) for UAVs within the country.
Thus, the terrorist state is forced to prefer to produce cheap drone imitators, instead of concentrating on the production of more expensive “Shaheds”.
