The head of the German government Olaf Scholz agreed with the proposal of Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell to use profits from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, NBN reports with reference to Reuters.

After a meeting with the prime ministers of the Baltic states in Riga, a representative of Berlin said that there are now no obligations for purchases in Europe, since there is an agreement to use about 90% of the income from Russian assets for the defense needs of Ukraine, clarifying that we are talking about several billion euros per year.

The German Chancellor said that weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine should not be purchased only in European countries, since now it is important to quickly deliver everything needed to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and not after the construction of a new plant.

Earlier in Germany they were outraged by Scholz’s mocking statement regarding the provision of long-range Taurus missiles to the Ukrainians.
