This substance has been banned since 2016.
The media reported what kind of banned drug could be found in the blood of London Chelsea and Ukraine national team footballer Mykhailo Mudryk, who tested positive for doping.
As TaToTake reports, citing its own sources, there is a high probability that this drug is meldonium (mildronate), banned by WADA since January 1, 2016.
It is believed that when it is used, the body trains to withstand stress, use oxygen sparingly and quickly restore energy reserves in order to prepare for new stress.
“This drug is complete crap. It was taken in packs in the old days and for the heart as a cardio-protector, and for alcoholism, for anything, but it does not have the declared miraculous properties. One solid placebo,” – this is how an unnamed Ukrainian sports doctor described the drug.
Let us recall that on the night of December 17, Tribuna.com reported that Mudryk had tested positive for doping. A banned substance was found in the 23-year-old Ukrainian footballer's “A” sample. The doping sample, which gave a positive result, was taken from Mudryk at the end of October.
It is expected that the “B” sample will also be opened in the coming days. After that, it will become clear whether Mudryk faces disqualification and, if so, for how long.
According to journalist and commentator Vladimir Zverov, the maximum punishment that Mudryk could face is a 4-year suspension.
This season, Mudryk has played 15 matches for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring three goals and making five assists.
The last time Mudryk was included in the Chelsea squad was on December 1 for the Premier League match against Aston Villa, which he spent on the bench. Since then, Mykhailo has been left out of his team's squad for four matches in a row. The head coach of the London club, Enzo Maresca, reported that the Ukrainian was ill.
