Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina made a commanding start at the Wimbledon Championships, defeating Hungary’s Anna Bondar with a score of 6–3, 6–1. The 14th seed of the tournament needed less than an hour to claim the victory, dropping only four games in the process, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

In the second round, Svitolina will face the winner of the match between Varvara Gracheva, who represents France, and Belarusian player Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

The remaining three Ukrainian women in the main draw are scheduled to begin their Wimbledon matches the following day. Dayana Yastremska is set to face the world’s No. 2 player Coco Gauff. Marta Kostyuk, seeded 26th at the tournament, will play against Slovenian Veronika Erjavec. Meanwhile, Yuliia Starodubtseva will make her debut with a match against local wildcard Francesca Jones.
