The first official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has finally been released, and Nintendo together with Illumination appear ready to take their next animated success to outer space, reports Baltimore Chronicle. The sequel to 2023’s billion-dollar hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to premiere on April 26, 2026, featuring a new cosmic adventure with Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad.
The trailer opens with Bowser, voiced by Jack Black, who now lives in a miniature version of his castle after being shrunk by a mini-mushroom at the end of the previous movie. He remains hostile toward Mario, played by Chris Pratt, but shows a surprising sense of camaraderie with Luigi, voiced by Charlie Day. Their interaction is interrupted by the arrival of Bowser Jr., portrayed by Benny Safdie, who sets out to free his father using a magical paintbrush capable of transforming objects into metallic versions of themselves.
The teaser also reveals the debut of Princess Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson, who uses her celestial powers in a spectacular space battle against a giant robot. Director Shigeru Miyamoto introduced the new cast members during a Nintendo Direct presentation, alongside Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Returning to their roles are Pratt as Mario, Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Black as Bowser. The absence of Yoshi, Mario’s dinosaur companion, has caught fans’ attention, though many expect his appearance closer to the film’s release date.
