The highly anticipated second season of the anime Hell’s Paradise has officially been confirmed, though an exact release date has not yet been shared, reports Baltimore Chronicle via das-unternehmer-wissen.de. Adapted from Yuji Kaku’s widely acclaimed manga, the series initially premiered in April 2023 on Crunchyroll in the U.S., introducing audiences to a story set in Japan’s Edo period. The narrative follows Gabimaru, a skilled ninja, and his executioner ally Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, as they embark on a perilous quest to uncover the legendary elixir of immortality.
Season 2 was officially ordered in July 2023, coinciding with the conclusion of the first season. A short trailer was released at the time, showcasing scenes from Season 1, but the official premiere window remains undisclosed. Considering the production timeline of Season 1, which was announced in January 2021 and premiered fifteen months later in April 2023, a release in the second quarter of 2025 appears plausible. However, the schedule of Studio MAPPA, the animation studio behind Hell’s Paradise, may influence the timeline, as the studio is concurrently managing projects such as Oblivion Battery, Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Season 2, and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. Despite this, industry analysts suggest that these overlapping projects are unlikely to cause major delays.
The main cast from the first season is expected to return for Season 2. Chiaki Kobayashi (Japanese) and Alejandro Saab (English) will reprise their roles as Gabimaru, while Yumiri Hanamori (Japanese) and Marisa Duran (English) will return as Sagiri. Other returning characters include Yuzuriha (Rie Takahashi / Jill Harris), Senta (Daiki Yamashita / Jordan Dash Cruz), Gantetsusai Tamiya (Tetsu Inada / Phil Parsons), Fuchi Yamada Asaemon (Aoi Ichikawa / Justin Briner), Shion (Chikahiro Kobayashi / Reagan Murdock), and Nurugai (Makoto Koichi / Cassie Ewulu). New additions include Ryota Suzuki as Yamada Asaemon Shugen, revealed during a Jump Festa 2024 panel. Shugen leads the second Yamada Asaemon team, competing against Gabimaru and Sagiri to seize the elixir of life.
Season 1 covered the manga’s Lord Tensen Arc up to around Chapter 59. Season 2 is expected to continue from Chapter 60, diving deeper into the Hōrai Arc. The story will explore the island’s history, reveal the enigmatic power known as Tao, and force reluctant alliances between the criminals and executioners of Jigokuraku. Complicating the narrative, a Tensen-aligned landing party led by the antagonist Zhu Jin will challenge the protagonists, escalating the conflicts and introducing new threats in the quest for immortality.
A brief teaser trailer has been released for Season 2, featuring only voiceovers and footage from the first season. No new animation or plot details were shown. Fans can anticipate a full trailer closer to the season’s eventual release, which is likely to provide a clearer glimpse of the storyline and upcoming action sequences.
