Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine, Major General Andrii Hnatov, stated that in the event of a massive use of drones by the enemy, there will be no complete shutdown of mobile communication. According to him, only temporary restrictions on service quality in certain areas are possible, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Novyny.LIVE.
He made this statement during the Yalta European Strategy (YES) 2025 conference, answering a question from journalist Halyna Ostapovets.
Hnatov clarified that such restrictions may concern lowering internet speed — limiting the availability of 4G or 5G networks. These measures may be necessary to prevent the enemy from using Ukrainian mobile devices to access the internet and control their unmanned aerial vehicles.
He emphasized that such actions would complicate the adversary’s ability to exploit Ukrainian infrastructure for intelligence gathering and drone coordination.
