OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced upcoming additions to ChatGPT that will require significant computational power. Because of this, some new features will be available only to Pro subscribers, and certain functionalities will require extra payment, reports Baltimore Chronicle with a link to the X.
In the coming weeks, the company plans to launch new resource-intensive services. Due to the associated costs, some features will initially be available exclusively to Pro users, while certain new products will come with additional fees. OpenAI emphasizes that its goal remains the same — to reduce the cost of “intelligence” and make its services widely accessible, as well as to explore what is possible with heavy computational resources applied to interesting new ideas.
One of the potential innovations could be the Sora 2 video generation model. Insider Tibor Blaho reported that the Sora web app code includes references to the NF2 experiment, along with subdomains and elements such as “Feed Page NF2,” “Composer,” “Recording,” “Accepted Invite,” and “Fast Pass.” This suggests a possible new design featuring a video feed and prioritized video generation, while the number 2 in the code indicates a new model.
The most likely date for the announcement and launch of these new features is October 6. On this day, the OpenAI DevDay — the company’s largest developer conference — will take place in San Francisco, which is typically accompanied by presentations of new functionality.
