Russian invaders today, December 26, attacked the railway station in Kherson. An evacuation train came under fire.

“There was just a report about the shelling of Kherson. A Russian attack on the railway station. An evacuation train. All services are now in place, the number of killed and injured is being established,” said head of state Vladimir Zelensky.
According to him, there were many civilians at the scene of the attack. All updates regarding the situation will be published by the relevant services.
UZ named the first consequences
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the station and rolling stock were damaged as a result of shelling in Kherson.
As of now, several injured employees are known. The passengers are in shelter.
At the same time, the UZ clarified that they want to transfer people onto buses at the station square to Nikolaev when the situation stabilizes. They are also already preparing reserve carriages that will take more than 100 passengers to safety.
First death
As noted by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko, a police lieutenant from the Kirovograd region was killed as a result of the shelling of the station. He was fatally wounded during the evacuation of people.
At the same time, according to the official, two more police officers received shrapnel wounds and were hospitalized.
Two civilians were also injured – they also had shrapnel wounds.
In total, about 140 people were at the station when the shelling began, Klimenko added.

Nikolaev is preparing for the arrival of people from Kherson
The mayor of Nikolaev, Alexander Senkevich, said that the authorities offered assistance to the railway station in the city.
At the same time, the police and the commandant’s office were asked to strengthen patrols on the territory of the station so that people could seek help if necessary. Law enforcement officers will be on duty until all people move on.
Criminal proceedings
The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that criminal proceedings have been opened into the shelling of the station in Kherson. This happened under the procedural leadership of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Passengers were evacuated to Nikolaev
Passengers of the Kherson train got to Nikolaev by bus. The train will depart to Kyiv according to the dispatch schedule.
At the same time, flights from Kramatorsk, Lvov and Kyiv in the direction of Kherson will be sent to Nikolaev tomorrow.
The identity of the deceased policeman has been revealed
As the Kirovograd region police said, during the evacuation of people at the Kherson station, Lieutenant Igor Misyunya died.

He was only 29 years old. He began his police service in 2017. The policeman is survived by his wife and two children.
