Russian troops attacked Ukraine with drones. Odessa, Dnieper, and Lviv came under attack. There are casualties known, there are deaths and destruction of infrastructure.

According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on New Year's Eve 2024, the enemy used a record number of Shahed-type attack UAVs. The attack was carried out in waves from four directions: Cape Chauda, Balaklava – Crimea, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation.
In total, launches of 90 enemy Shahed drones were recorded. The enemy also attacked the Kharkov region with four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, three Kh-31P anti-radar missiles and one Kh-59 from the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
In most regions of Ukraine, an air raid warning was announced along the route of the drones.
In fact, air defense was operational in all regions. The air attack was repelled by mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, fighter aircraft and anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force.
Thus, on New Year's Eve, the defenders of the sky managed to destroy a record number of enemy attack UAVs – 87 out of 90 Shaheds.
About 60 Shaheds flew through the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces overnight, and more than 50 of them were destroyed.
Most of all in the Odessa region, more than 30 drones were shot down.
Odessa
According to the head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, at night the Russians attacked Odessa with drones. As a result of the attack, direct and fragmentation hits were recorded in residential buildings. A fire broke out in one high-rise building. Rescuers eliminated him.
At the moment, one death and eight injured residents are known. Three of them were injured, the rest were treated on the spot.
Updated 10:23. The person who died as a result of the night attack by the Shaheds in Odessa was a 15-year-old teenager.
As Kiper clarified, around midnight the enemy deliberately sent some of the drones to residential areas of residential areas of Odessa and the suburbs, where people in their own homes were gathering with their families to celebrate the New Year. As a result of the fall of downed UAVs, at least 3 high-rise apartment buildings, 3 private houses, and outbuildings were damaged.
“As a result of the attack, a 15-year-old teenager died. Three people with wounds and burns were hospitalized, four more received medical care on the spot and continue treatment on an outpatient basis,” wrote the head of the OVA.
As a result of the hit, a fire broke out in one of the port terminals, which was promptly tamed. No people were hurt.

Dnieper
At night, the Dnieper was attacked by enemy UAVs.
According to the head of the Dnepropetrovsk OVA, Sergei Lysak, an enemy drone hit one of the enterprises. There was a fire there. Rescuers eliminated him.
The UAV also damaged a power line. 1,500 families were left without electricity in the Pyatikhatsk community of the Kamensky district.
The occupiers attacked the Nikopol community with artillery. The gymnasium and 13 private houses were damaged. No casualties.
Nikolaev
The head of the Nikolaev Regional State Administration, Vitaly Kim, said that there are arrivals in the region. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Lviv
On the morning of January 1, the Russians attacked Lviv with drones. UAV debris fell into the Shukhevych Museum, after which a fire broke out in the building. Rescuers put out the fire.
According to the mayor of Lvov, Andrei Sadovoy, the Shukhevych Museum was completely destroyed.

Also, debris from the drone fell on the roof of the dormitory, which eventually caught fire. Firefighters were on the scene. Afterwards, the mayor of Lvov, Sadovaya, posted a photo showing the consequences of the fire.

Khmelnitsky region
As reported in the Khmelnitsky Air Force, late in the evening, during an air raid, air defense forces neutralized 6 enemy “Shaheds”.
However, as a result of the attack, a minor child received injuries in the form of an open injury to the thoracic spine. She was admitted to the hospital.
There was also a fire in a private garage, which was quickly extinguished.
