Donald Trump says he will not provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, insisting the war should “run its course,” reports Baltimore Chronicle citing CBS News.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he currently does not plan to provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles. The politician emphasized that “sometimes you just have to let the battle run its course,” reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to CBS News.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Donald Trump noted that his position on supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could change in the future, but at this moment, he is not considering such an option.

When asked what might become the “final straw” proving to him that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of seeking peace, Trump replied that there is no such point, adding that “sometimes you have to let the battle run its course.”

The U.S. president also emphasized that the war has become extremely difficult for both Russia and Ukraine. According to him, Putin has suffered massive losses — possibly up to one million soldiers — and the conflict continues to exhaust both nations.

Trump added that he is not involved in discussions about using Russia’s frozen assets for Ukraine’s benefit, explaining that “Europe and Russia are the ones discussing this issue.”

That same day, the American president gave an interview to CBS News, where he said that during his previous term he managed to resolve most international conflicts by threatening the involved parties with trade tariffs. However, Trump pointed out that this strategy would not work with Russia since “the United States doesn’t do much business with them.”
