Baltimore KittyCon returns on Sunday, August 30, 2026, as BARCS turns its annual cat celebration into a full-scale convention. The event has moved to the Baltimore Museum of Industry after outgrowing its previous venue, according to Baltimore Chronicle.
The third annual event has already sold out. Organizers announced that 1,000 tickets were purchased, with visitors traveling from across the United States and abroad. The official BARCS KittyCon page confirms the sellout and expanded program.
Baltimore KittyCon moves to a bigger venue
General admission runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway. VIP guests receive early access from 11 a.m. until noon.
KittyCon started as a smaller Baltimore gathering for cat owners, rescuers and artists. Its first 2 editions also sold out. The larger museum venue allows BARCS to add adoption areas, workshops and educational sessions.
The expansion reflects how quickly Baltimore KittyCon has moved from a local gathering to a destination event for cat lovers.
Visitors can expect several activities during the afternoon:
- cat and kitten adoptions from BARCS and partner rescues;
- local artists and cat-themed vendors;
- interactive workshops and crafting;
- veterinary and educational sessions;
- contests, food and drinks.
The program combines entertainment with animal welfare work. Adoption procedures and fees can differ between participating rescue organizations.
KittyCon supports homeless cats in Baltimore
The convention is also a fundraiser for the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter. BARCS says proceeds help finance medical treatment, foster programs, adoptions and services for community cats.
The scale of that work is considerable. BARCS reports welcoming more than 100,000 homeless cats during the past 20 years. It also provides Trap-Neuter-Return and vaccination services for more than 2,000 outdoor cats each year.

The Baltimore Museum of Industry has free onsite parking, although spaces are limited. BARCS also lists nearby garages and parking lots for visitors arriving by car.
A full weekend for Baltimore cat lovers
KittyCon activities began before Sunday’s convention. BARCS organized its first “Whiskers & Windows on Caturday” tour on August 29.
The double-decker bus route took participants through Baltimore neighborhoods to see cats displayed in decorated windows. A self-guided version also highlighted participating homes around the city.
Visit Baltimore describes KittyCon as an expanded convention with live entertainment, vendors, workshops and adoption opportunities. With 1,000 tickets sold, BARCS is already signaling that next year’s event may need even more space.
