Karol Nawrocki, who won the presidential election in Poland, had repeatedly expressed his stance on the Russian-Ukrainian war and support for Ukraine long before his political victory. His rhetoric on this matter has remained consistent and firm: Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is an act of violence that cannot be justified, reports Baltimore Chronicle.
In his statements, Nawrocki emphasized that Ukraine is fighting not only for its own freedom but also for shared European values. According to him, the war in Ukraine is also a fight for Europe’s security because if the aggressor is not stopped, any other country in the region could become the next target.
Nawrocki has stated that Poland’s policy should remain steadfast in supporting Ukraine. He has highlighted the importance of humanitarian and military aid, as well as the need to maintain international unity regarding sanctions against Russia. In one public address, he directly stated that Ukraine’s victory in this war is “vitally necessary” not only for Kyiv but also for Warsaw.
Nawrocki has paid particular attention to the historical ties between Poland and Ukraine, calling support for Ukrainians a moral duty. He emphasized that Poles cannot stand by while a neighboring country is attacked with military force.
In terms of Poland’s domestic policy, Nawrocki believes that helping Ukraine should be integrated into the country’s strategic foreign policy course. In his view, strengthening relations with Kyiv is key to enhancing Poland’s standing in the region and within the European Union overall.
Karol Nawrocki’s statements demonstrate the new Polish president’s readiness to actively support Ukraine both through bilateral relations and broader European solidarity.
