Hungarian PM Orban says a meeting between Trump and Putin in Budapest could happen soon if remaining issues are resolved and both sides agree.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that a meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, planned to take place in Budapest, could happen in the coming days. For the summit to proceed, the leaders must first resolve several outstanding issues, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Magyar Nemzet.

Orban emphasized that certain disagreements remain between Washington and Moscow that need to be addressed before formal negotiations can begin. According to the Hungarian prime minister, if all details are agreed upon, the Budapest peace summit could take place within a few days. Following this, depending on the decisions of both sides, a ceasefire and steps toward establishing peace in Ukraine could be implemented.

Earlier reports indicated that in mid-October, Donald Trump, after a phone call with Vladimir Putin, announced a preliminary agreement to meet in the Hungarian capital. However, shortly after, several Western media outlets reported that the summit had been canceled. According to these sources, Moscow reportedly refused to halt hostilities. Officials from the White House also noted that “both sides are not yet fully prepared for comprehensive negotiations.”
