U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin recently asked him for assistance in resolving the war in Ukraine, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the speach. According to Trump, this occurred during a phone conversation two weeks ago. “He said to me, ‘We have been trying to end this war for ten years, but we have not succeeded. Now it is your responsibility,’” Trump said. He added that he was able to resolve some issues “within an hour” without any support from the United Nations, and the only thing he received from the UN was a “blank teleprompter,” recalling a technical incident during a speech at the General Assembly.
On October 16, Trump spoke on the phone with Vladimir Putin and later announced plans to meet in Budapest to discuss ending the Russia-Ukraine war. The following day, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and proposed a ceasefire along the current front line, advising both sides to “stop where they are.” Zelensky supported this idea, while the Kremlin stated that “Russia’s positions remain unchanged.” Later, media sources citing White House insiders reported that Trump postponed the planned meeting with Putin, emphasizing that he did not want to “waste time” on talks that would not lead to ending the war.
