Federal Hill safety measures are now in effect as Baltimore officials tighten security across the popular nightlife district. The changes began Friday night and affect minors, alcohol consumption, traffic, and weekend parking, according to Baltimore Chronicle. The measures were first reported by CBS News Baltimore.
Federal Hill curfew rules set different hours by age
The new Federal Hill curfew creates separate restrictions for younger children and teenagers. Officials also introduced an adult-supervision requirement for people under 17 during the enhanced security period.
The main rules are:
- Children aged 13 or younger cannot remain unaccompanied after 9 p.m.
- Teenagers aged 14 through 16 face an 11 p.m. curfew.
- People under 17 must be accompanied by an adult aged at least 25.
- The accompanying adult must carry valid identification.
The rules closely connect youth access with Baltimore’s broader nightlife security strategy. Similar expanded measures were introduced earlier in Fells Point.
Federal Hill road closures and parking restrictions this weekend
Drivers will also encounter parking restrictions between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. throughout the weekend. The restrictions focus on streets surrounding Federal Hill’s busiest restaurant and nightlife area.

Open containers banned under new Federal Hill nightlife rules
Alcohol purchased from a Federal Hill business must now be consumed at that establishment. Open containers cannot be carried through the district under the updated guidelines.
The measures arrive while local businesses are reporting weaker activity. Federal Hill Business Association President Mo Phillips said the organization welcomes solutions that could improve conditions.
City officials say their goal is to keep Federal Hill welcoming for residents, visitors, and businesses. The approach follows Baltimore’s recent security expansion in Fells Point.
