Austin recalled the military package recently allocated to Ukraine assistance in the amount of $1 billion, the weapons of which are supplied from the US Army.
“I am also pleased to announce today an additional commitment of $6 billion under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This will allow us to purchase additional assistance to Ukraine from the American defense industry,” he added.
The Pentagon chief emphasized that this is the largest package of military assistance that we have announced to date. He clarified that the package will include interceptors for the Patriot and NASAMS systems, counter-drone systems, a significant amount of artillery ammunition and anti-aircraft shells.
