The new “Security” section can be found in the “section” Wallet Settings”, where the “Verification” settings are listed. The company allows users to choose whether they need to verify their identity when using items stored in their wallet.

The new feature is available in version 24.10 of Google Wallet.

The only available option in the menu is transit payments , and if the “required verification” switch is selected, Google Wallet will require verification to pay for travel on the bus, subway and other types of transport using a credit or debit card. Authorization methods are common for Android devices: PIN code or fingerprint scanning.

In addition, if a travel pass is already stored in the wallet, then by default the switch is turned on and the application will require verification before extending the payment by bank card. However, the option is automatically disabled if users do not save transit passes.

This move comes after reports that in some countries Google Wallet requires the device to be unlocked for Tap-to-Pay transactions, regardless of the amount, and this change caused a mixed reaction from users.
