People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Committee on Finance and Customs Policy Alexey Leonov reported that every day Ukrainians spend almost 400 million hryvnia in online casinos.
“We see from the figures that almost 400 million UAH. Ukrainians spend every day in online casinos. There is such a terrible figure that was studied even before the war – almost 18% of suicide cases in the Armed Forces were committed by military personnel who had a gambling addiction and acquired significant financial debts,” the people’s deputy noted.
In addition, according to him, a large resource is in the area of application of excise taxes.
“Billions of hryvnias are literally lying under our feet, but due to “gray” schemes in excisable industries, the state is losing almost 40 billion hryvnias. in year. The most difficult situation in the tobacco sector is that almost every fifth cigarette is sold without paying excise tax,” Leonov added.
He drew attention to the fact that the fight against the “shadow” market is in the form of replacing paper excise tax stamps to electronic ones. The Verkhovna Rada is currently working on this issue.
