HBO’s horror-drama series “IT: Welcome to Derry,” which explores the origins of the infamous Pennywise, concluded its first season on December 14, 2025, with fans already anticipating the next chapter, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to USA Today. Set in the 1960s, the prequel series depicts Pennywise terrorizing the residents of Derry, Maine, combining horror, suspense, and dark drama to explore the villain’s early actions.
While HBO has not officially confirmed a second season, co-creator Andy Muschietti shared insights in a Variety interview, hinting that the narrative will explore Pennywise’s experience of time in a non-linear fashion. Muschietti explained that the overarching story spans three seasons, following the three critical cycles of Pennywise’s terror: 1962, 1935, and 1908. Future episodes are expected to contain numerous nods to previous films, Easter eggs, and elements of the series’ mythological backstory, including the significance of the mysterious turtle and its influence on character behavior.
The continuation will reportedly be set in the mid-1930s, during the Great Depression in Derry, featuring younger versions of characters introduced in the first season. Warner Bros. has not yet provided updates regarding production or a release date for Season 2.
