Mariah Carey has been officially confirmed as the headline performer for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will take place in Milan, Italy, on February 6, 2026, at the San Siro stadium, making her the first major international artist announced for the event, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the Instagram reel.

The announcement was made through official posts on the Olympic Games and Milano Cortina 2026 Instagram accounts. In a video message shared with fans, the five-time Grammy Award winner addressed viewers directly, confirming her appearance at the Olympic opening ceremony and inviting audiences to join her in Milan for the global sporting event.

In the video, Carey greets fans in Italian and English, saying she looks forward to performing at the Stadio San Siro on February 6 for the opening ceremony of Milano Cortina 2026. The message was accompanied by promotional visuals emphasizing the collaboration between the singer and the host city.

Organizers of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games highlighted that Carey’s participation aligns with the central theme of the opening ceremony, described as “harmony.” According to the official Olympic post, Carey was selected due to her internationally recognized voice and a musical career that spans generations and cultures.

This is not Carey’s first association with the Olympic Games. Officials noted that her song “100%,” released in 2010, was used in support of Team USA during the Vancouver Winter Olympics, marking a previous contribution to the global sporting event.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held from February 6 to February 22, 2026, across Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Games will feature competitions in 16 winter sports, including alpine skiing, bobsleigh, figure skating, snowboarding, and other disciplines, bringing together athletes from around the world.
