TikTok, the widely used short-video platform, faced a major service outage in the United States on Sunday, leaving thousands of users unable to access the app, reports Baltimore Chronicle via Mint. The disruption appeared across multiple cities and regions, prompting numerous complaints on social media and outage tracking websites.

Users reported a range of issues, from the app failing to load entirely to inconsistent performance where videos would not play and feeds refused to refresh. Some individuals could open the app but encountered repeated errors while navigating content, indicating intermittent accessibility issues rather than a complete blackout for all users.

Data from Downdetector, a widely referenced platform for monitoring outages, indicated that over 36,000 users in the United States experienced problems during the period of disruption. Approximately 64% reported difficulties specifically with the TikTok app functionality, 23% noted a total service outage, and 13% highlighted problems related to video feeds or timeline loading failures.

The Downdetector outage map highlighted several major cities as hotspots for the reported issues, including Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Tampa, Washington, Chicago, and Detroit. Additional reports came from smaller metropolitan areas, indicating the problem affected a broad geographical range.

As of now, TikTok has not released an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or providing an estimated timeline for service restoration. Users are advised to monitor official TikTok channels for updates regarding the resolution.
