“We need to talk less and do more on the field”: Yaremchuk spoke about the upcoming game with Iceland

Blue-and-yellows forward assured that the national team is approaching the decisive match as responsibly as possible.

Forward of the Ukrainian national team Roman Yaremchuk took part in a press conference on the eve of the final match of the play-offs qualifying for Euro 2024against the Icelandic team.

Yaremchuk’s answers to journalists’ questions are provided by the official website of the UAF.

Is there Do you have any rituals before the game?

– There are no rituals. You have to prepare well throughout the week, be a professional. This is my ritual.

Alexander Karavaev said that tomorrow there is no room for error. Is it easy to tune in to this thought?

– I think we need to say less in the press that this is the match of our lives, that we must win. We need to talk less and do more in the field. Everyone understands the significance of the fight.

Previously, Dynamo and Shakhtar were usually represented in the Ukrainian national team, but now players from different clubs are called up. Is this a plus or minus for the team?

– Of course, this is a plus for our country, because we represent the best world championships. It’s not easy for the coaching staff to get us all into one scheme in a few days so that we all think the same on the field. Of course, it’s difficult for coaches, but the level of the players has increased. However, I repeat, we need to show this on the field, because in the last match we did not demonstrate our level. We need to show this here, because many of our fans will gather, there will be an important fight.

– Who is the leader in the locker room of the Ukrainian national team?

– A change is taking place now generations, younger guys come. Of course, for such important matches we really miss Taras Stepanenko and Andrei Yarmolenko and their leadership qualities in the locker room. But now there are many people who perform at a high level who can give advice.

Some players said that you had a frank conversation between the players…

– Yes, we talked about the fact that we went through such an experience after Scotland. We were euphoric, because we were one step away from the World Cup. And in the match against Wales we disappointed the whole country, and then we went around crying. There was a conversation so that this would not happen again. Everyone took it very seriously, forgot the match with Bosnia, and went to the hotel, ready for the next game. The situation in the country does not allow us to celebrate now. We need to please our fans and the guys who are holding the front.
