Oleksandr Usyk vacates titles held by the heavyweight champion but confirms he remains in boxing and plans at least 1 final “Last Dance” fight.

Oleksandr Usyk vacates titles held by the Ukrainian heavyweight champion, opening boxing’s leading division to new contenders. Usyk announced the decision through Instagram and stressed that he has not retired, as noted by the Baltimore Chronicle editorial team via Instagram.

The undefeated boxer said he wants to release every belt currently in his possession. That decision affects the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight championships.

Why Oleksandr Usyk Vacates His Titles

Usyk explained that other fighters have waited for opportunities to challenge for the championships. Vacating the belts allows boxing organisations to arrange new title contests without involving him.

“I want to leave all the belts I hold today,” Usyk said. He added that contenders waiting behind him should receive their chance.

His announcement included 3 central points:

  • Usyk will relinquish his remaining heavyweight titles.
  • The decision does not mean immediate retirement.
  • At least 1 more official fight remains possible.

The move removes mandatory title defences from Usyk’s schedule. It also gives him greater freedom when selecting his final opponent.

Which Heavyweight Belts Will Become Vacant

Usyk’s decision affects the leading titles still under his control.

Each organisation will determine how its next champion is selected. Rankings, interim titles and mandatory challengers could influence those decisions.

What Usyk’s “Last Dance” Means

Usyk directly rejected suggestions that he had already left professional boxing. “I still have my Last Dance,” the Ukrainian said.

The phrase indicates that another fight remains part of his plans. However, Usyk did not name an opponent, venue or date.

He also thanked the governing organisations and underlined his respect for them. His announcement therefore separates the championship belts from his final sporting ambitions.
