A new plant for the production of fasteners required for the transition to European gauge railways is planned in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. The ministry also announced plans to establish production of contact wires for railway electrification.
Ministry representatives held a meeting with Jacques Gerber, Delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Ukraine, to discuss restoration projects supported by the Swiss government. The main focus of the meeting was the launch of initiatives in railway infrastructure and housing, with funding of 76 million Swiss francs allocated for projects under the ministry’s responsibility.
The projects include the construction of modular houses for internally displaced persons in Vinnytsia and the Sumy region, as well as the replacement of windows in damaged buildings in Kharkiv and other frontline regions. All programs are included in the Unified Project Portfolio, allowing implementation without delays, with some projects scheduled to start as early as October.
The ministry is also considering attracting additional Swiss grants for mixed financing of public-private partnership projects. Additionally, cooperation with Swiss railway companies and the Swissrail association is being discussed to develop the transport sector.
“We can organize the next call for proposals for Swiss companies in critical infrastructure and housing construction. We already have successful projects, and Swiss companies are interested in collaboration. This could become a key direction for partnership,” said Deputy Minister Marina Denysiuk.
