It is noted that this information is confirmed by two intermediaries who help Russian citizens obtain cards from Turkish banks. Clients with a residence permit and registration in Turkey are also denied.

According to one of the intermediaries, out of ten applications from Russians to open an account, only one receives approval. DenizBank makes exceptions only for clients with a large deposit – from 100 thousand dollars.

Another intermediary said that since 2024, DenizBank no longer opens accounts for foreigners, including Russians as tourists.

If previously a foreign passport was required to open an account, now the bank requires a residence permit and registration in Turkey, and the decision accepts only after verification of the client.

At the same time, a source of the Russian propaganda state news agency in the banking sector in Turkey reported that DenizBank did not introduce any bans on opening accounts for Russians. However, applications undergo enhanced checks due to a possible violation of sanctions against Russia.

Recall

After the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, DenizBank several times complicated the terms of service for Russians. Over time, the bank demanded from clients from Russia documents confirming the right of residence in Turkey.
