The IAEA does not have sufficient access to the Zaporizhia NPP to verify information about military equipment

energy cannot confirm or refute the information spread on social networks about the presence of Russian military equipment on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

This is stated in a statement by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, published on the organization’s website.

The agency claims that it saw videos and photos of military personnel and military vehicles in one of the station’s turbine halls. However, it is not possible to verify this fact due to the occupiers’ restrictions on access to important areas. IAEA experts were unable to “timely and properly” enter parts of the turbine room, the insulation gate of the cooling tower and the switchgear at the adjacent thermal power plant.

Despite the restrictions, the IAEA claims that it does not detect any immediate threats to nuclear safety.

  • On March 22 and 23, the Zaporizhia NPP was threatened with blackout at least twice a day.
  • < li>Minister of Energy German Galushchenko claims that the occupiers are unlikely to be able to launch the station.
