On July 31, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will hold a session to discuss bill 13533, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The bill aims to enhance the powers of anti-corruption bodies, including the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. The bill also seeks to ensure greater independence for these bodies in their fight against corruption, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing a post from Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk on social media.
The Speaker stated that during the session, the proposal is to adopt the bill in its entirety and support its urgent signing. In addition, the Verkhovna Rada will review other important legislative initiatives that also have significant implications for the reform of the anti-corruption system in Ukraine.
This bill is a crucial step in the fight against corruption, strengthening the institutional independence of bodies responsible for conducting investigations and overseeing anti-corruption cases.
