The England national football team and head coach Thomas Tuchel are preparing to challenge a new FIFA regulation that requires teams to relocate their base during the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

According to the updated policy, all teams that advance beyond the group stage must change their training base and move closer to the location of their next match. In previous tournaments, teams were allowed to remain at a single base for the entire duration of the event, enabling optimal training conditions, accommodation, and family presence.

The Football Association of England has expressed dissatisfaction with the change, raising concerns over its potential impact on players’ stability and preparation. Thomas Tuchel also indicated his intent to seek a reversal of the rule and is planning a trip to the United States in the near future to assess potential team accommodation options.

One of the primary candidates for England’s base camp is Kansas, due to its strategic central location within the United States. From Kansas, it is possible to reach all tournament venues within approximately four hours, making it a logistically convenient choice if the previous regulations were to remain in effect.
