Baltimore Orioles 2026 draft picks added 4 prospects on Day 1, led by Mississippi high school star Eric Booth Jr. Baltimore selected 3 center fielders and 1 right-handed pitcher with its first 4 choices, as reported by the Baltimore Chronicle.
Orioles select Eric Booth Jr. with No. 7 pick
The Orioles used the No. 7 overall selection on Booth, an 18-year-old center fielder from Oak Grove High School.
Booth hit .481 during his senior season and .441 across his high school career. His speed may be his strongest immediate weapon. He recorded a 6.33-second 60-yard dash at the East Coast Pro showcase.
MLB Pipeline gave Booth a 70 running grade and a 60 overall grade. His combination of contact, defense and speed gives Baltimore a high-upside prospect.

Baltimore adds Ty Head and Dominic Voegele
Baltimore returned to the outfield with its No. 46 selection. The club chose NC State center fielder Ty Head.
Head hit 14 college home runs and stole 26 bases. However, his .291 average and projected draft position made the selection more debatable.
The Orioles then selected Kansas right-hander Dominic Voegele at No. 82. His 5.85 ERA raised concerns, but his strikeout numbers offered a clearer explanation.
| Pick | Player | Position | Previous team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | Eric Booth Jr. | Center fielder | Oak Grove High School |
| 46 | Ty Head | Center fielder | NC State |
| 82 | Dominic Voegele | Pitcher | Kansas |
| 110 | Kevin Roberts Jr. | Center fielder | Jackson Prep |
Voegele struck out 120 hitters across 97 innings. That swing-and-miss ability could give Baltimore’s development staff a valuable foundation.
Kevin Roberts Jr. completes Day 1 class
With pick No. 110, Baltimore selected Kevin Roberts Jr. from Jackson Prep in Mississippi.
The 17-year-old hit .396 with 10 home runs during his senior season. He also owns pitching experience, although an injury prevented him from taking the mound last season.
The Orioles’ opening strategy was clear:
- prioritize athletic players at premium defensive positions;
- add speed and potential power to the farm system;
- accept development risk with younger prospects;
- target strikeout potential in Voegele.
None of the 4 selections becomes an official Orioles minor leaguer until signing a contract. Baltimore must now turn an aggressive draft strategy into signed prospects and measurable development.
