The Japanese automaker is retiring the iconic GT-R coupe, which has been in production since 2007. Japan was the last market for the Nissan GT-R: orders for the supercar on the domestic market were accepted until February 28, and now the factory will process the orders and produce the required number of cars.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Carscoops.
The “farewell” special versions were presented last year. It is worth admitting that the Nissan GT-R has long been outdated: supercars ceased to be delivered to Australia and New Zealand in October 2021, to Europe and Britain – in March 2022. In both cases, the premature retirement was a consequence of non-compliance with environmental, safety or noise regulations.
Production of the US versions ended last fall, with only the T-Spec Takumi and Skyline special editions available at the end of the life cycle. Since 2007, the Nissan GT-R has undergone three restylings in 2010, 2016 and 2023. However, the technology has remained unchanged all these years: a 3.8-liter gasoline engine was combined with a 6-speed preselective “robot” and an all-wheel drive system. The supercar's power increased from 480 to 608 horsepower, and with tuning, the Japanese coupes easily developed more than 1,000 horsepower.
Nissan's financial situation leaves much to be desired, so the GT-R's future is unclear. According to unofficial information, the supercar will be electrified and switched to solid-state batteries, but the brand's vice president admits that the necessary technologies for implementing the plan are not yet in place.
