Prince Harry made an unannounced trip to Kyiv at the invitation of the Ukrainian government, stating that he wants to do “everything possible” to support the recovery of thousands of servicemen who sustained severe injuries during the war, reports the Baltimore Chronicle citing The Guardian.
During his visit to the Ukrainian capital, the Duke of Sussex, together with his Invictus Games Foundation team, presented new initiatives aimed at expanding rehabilitation programs for wounded soldiers. The ultimate goal of these efforts is to provide assistance across all regions of the country.

Speaking to the Guardian on the overnight train to Kyiv, Harry said that although he cannot stop the war, he is determined to help in the recovery process. He stressed the importance of maintaining humanity and keeping the suffering of those involved in the war in the public eye, warning that it is easy for people to become desensitized to daily tragedies.
Harry revealed that the invitation to Kyiv came from Olga Rudneva, founder and CEO of the Superhumans Center in Lviv, which provides treatment for soldiers with amputations. He first met her by chance in New York several months ago, and later visited the center in April. According to the prince, Rudneva told him that the greatest impact he could make would be to come to Kyiv personally. After consultations with his wife and the British government, he received an official invitation.
The Duke noted that the war feels distant in Lviv, located in western Ukraine, while Kyiv offers the opportunity to witness the destruction firsthand. His program included a visit to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, meetings with 200 veterans, and talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
In addition, Prince Harry emphasized the expansion of sports rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian servicemen. While the Invictus Games remain the foundation’s central project, he is working to provide sports equipment and long-term opportunities for recovery in Ukraine beyond the competitions.
With this trip, Harry became the second member of the British Royal Family to visit Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
