Baz struck out three and threw 100 pitches, including 63 strikes. It was his ninth appearance of at least six innings this season, but his record dropped to 4-9.

Baz kept Baltimore within reach, but the lineup offered little support while Boyd controlled the first six innings.
Adley Rutschman Drives in Both Baltimore Runs
Adley Rutschman recorded two RBIs, producing Baltimore’s only runs. It marked his third multi-RBI performance across his past six games.
Taylor Ward reached base through multiple walks for the 16th time this season. However, Baltimore could not turn those opportunities into a sustained rally.
The Orioles’ main offensive problems were clear:
- no extra-base hits;
- only one hit with runners in scoring position;
- six scoreless innings against Boyd;
- two runs despite several late opportunities.
Chicago’s bullpen protected the advantage after Boyd departed. Alex Bregman drove in two runs for the Cubs, who improved to 51-40. Baltimore fell to 42-50.
