Arepi Turns Its Restaurant Into a Relief Collection Point
The Venezuelan restaurant at 1616 Thames Street began accepting donations immediately after the disaster. The earthquakes killed more than 900 people and left thousands injured, missing, or homeless.
Co-owner Luis Dams said he remains shocked by the destruction. Most of his family is safe, but friends still live in affected communities.
“There are many people who lost everything,” Dams said. Supplies collected in Baltimore will travel through a Florida organization to Venezuela.
What Venezuela Earthquake Donations Are Needed
Arepi is requesting practical items that can support displaced families:
- Lightweight nonperishable food
- Hygiene products and medicine
- Tents, blankets, and sleeping bags
- Batteries and flashlights
- Diapers and baby formula
- Work gloves, masks, and sanitizer
The restaurant asks donors to avoid heavy canned food. Owners say their storage area is already packed with clothing, medicine, and emergency equipment.
