Ukrainian MPs call to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize and urge the Verkhovna Rada to include the petition on the parliamentary agenda.

Ukrainian Members of Parliament Anna Skorokhod and Mykola Tyshchenko urged the Verkhovna Rada to support a petition to the Nobel Committee to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, reports Baltimore Chronicle with a reference to the video. During the parliamentary session on October 7, the deputies called for including this issue in the agenda, emphasizing its strategic importance for Ukrainian-American relations.

Anna Skorokhod, representing the “For the Future” party group and formerly a member of the “Servant of the People” faction, expressed frustration that the draft resolution had not yet been considered by parliament. According to her, supporting Trump in peace initiatives demonstrates Ukraine’s loyalty to the United States and confirms their strategic partnership. She also stressed the need for active advocacy of Ukraine among U.S. legislators and increased efforts to secure defense assistance and sanctions support from the United States.

Valeriy Hnatenko, a deputy from the “Revival of Ukraine” group, noted that Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip is already showing some results. Mykola Tyshchenko, who was expelled from “Servant of the People,” emphasized the importance of including the petition in the parliamentary agenda, highlighting support for both the United States and Donald Trump personally.

Previously, reports indicated that representatives of various countries have repeatedly nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Among them was Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Merezhko, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy, who withdrew his nomination in June, citing a loss of faith in Trump’s ability to secure peace between Russia and Ukraine.

The Nobel Week runs from October 6 to October 13, with the Peace Prize laureate scheduled to be announced on October 10. Candidates can be nominated by members of national assemblies, governments, sitting heads of state, and members of certain organizations. The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize ended on January 31. This year, 338 candidates were nominated, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations. According to the rules, the Nobel Committee does not confirm the names of nominees to the media or the candidates themselves, and the full list becomes public only 50 years after the prize is awarded.
