Brooklyn Beckham has publicly stated that he does not wish to reconcile with his parents, soccer star David Beckham and singer-designer Victoria Beckham, amid ongoing family tensions, reports Baltimore Chronicle via ABC. On Monday, the 26-year-old shared an extensive message on social media outlining what he described as repeated instances of control, interference, and mistreatment by his parents throughout his life, particularly in relation to his wife, Nicola Peltz, whom he married in 2022.
In his statement, Brooklyn Beckham expressed frustration over his parents’ influence on media narratives, writing that he has remained silent for years to protect his family’s privacy but felt compelled to address what he called “lies printed in the press.” He claimed that David and Victoria Beckham have controlled public perceptions and disseminated false stories “mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade.”
Beckham also detailed alleged attempts by his parents to interfere in his relationship with Peltz prior to their marriage. Among the examples he cited, he claimed his mother decided at the last minute not to create Peltz’s wedding dress, pressured him to relinquish rights to his own name, and publicly labeled him “evil” following a disagreement over wedding seating arrangements.
The model and photographer stated that once he began asserting his independence, he experienced what he described as “endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.” He further alleged that his wedding day was marred by his mother, who “hijacked my first dance with my wife” and behaved inappropriately in front of guests, leaving him feeling humiliated and uncomfortable.
Beckham recounted further incidents highlighting strained relations with his father, noting that an attempt to meet David in London was limited to his birthday party, and when his family later traveled to Los Angeles, they refused to see him at all. He criticized the family’s prioritization of public image and branding over personal relationships, stating, “Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.”
In conclusion, Brooklyn Beckham emphasized that growing up under his parents’ control caused anxiety, which he says has dissipated since stepping away from his family’s oversight. He affirmed that he is standing up for himself for the first time in his life, declaring that he has no interest in reconciliation at this stage.
