The European Union continues to demonstrate unwavering support for Ukraine while intensifying pressure on the Russian Federation, gradually weakening its military economy and strengthening Kyiv’s positions. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv on Monday, October 13, reports Baltimore Chronicle with a link to the Korrespondent.net. Kallas emphasized that this year the European Union is providing Ukraine with record volumes of military aid, while EU sanctions have already deprived Moscow of hundreds of billions of euros necessary to finance its war.
She noted that these measures not only support Ukraine’s defense capabilities but also place strategic constraints on the Russian economy, reducing its ability to continue aggression. Kallas stressed the EU’s consistent policy in assisting Kyiv and assured that the bloc will continue support across all key areas, including military equipment and defense financing.
The briefing also covered prospects for further strengthening sanctions against Russia and mechanisms for monitoring their impact on the aggressor’s economy. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that Kyiv values the EU’s proactive stance, considering it critical to deterring Russian aggression.
Kallas added that the EU plans to continue coordinating its actions with international partners to ensure Ukraine’s sustainable defense capacity and support economic stability in the region. According to her, cooperation with Kyiv remains a priority for the union, and the EU is ready to expand assistance volumes depending on Ukraine’s needs.
