Nataliia Zharkova won gold at the 2025 World Freediving Championship with a 113 m national record. Kateryna Sadurska finished fourth.

Ukrainian athlete Nataliia Zharkova claimed the gold medal at the 2025 World Freediving Championship in the CWT discipline – constant weight with fins. Her victory came at the competition held in the Greek city of Mitikas from September 9 to 17, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Zharkova not only secured first place but also set a new national record for Ukraine by reaching a depth of 113 meters. For comparison, this depth exceeds the height of the building of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

In the decisive contest, the Ukrainian outperformed her closest rival, Italian Alessia Zecchini, by four meters, which earned Zharkova the top spot on the world podium.

Another Ukrainian athlete, Kateryna Sadurska, attempted to dive beyond the 100-meter mark. She announced a target of 105 meters but turned back at 102 m, receiving a four-meter penalty. Her final result was 98 meters, placing her in fourth position.

On Friday, September 12, both Zharkova and Sadurska will compete again, this time in the Free Immersion (FIM) discipline.
