Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, stripped of royal titles, leaves Windsor and relocates to Sandringham, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

The brother of Britain’s King Charles III, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (known until Thursday as Prince Andrew), is leaving his Windsor residence and relocating to the royal Sandringham estate, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing BBC. According to sources, Andrew’s stay at the new residence will be funded personally by the King, with no involvement of British taxpayers’ money.

The move will take the former prince around 225 kilometers northeast of Windsor — distancing him from King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who live in London, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, who reside in Windsor.

An official notice of termination for the lease of the Royal Lodge in Windsor, where Andrew had been living, was filed on Thursday. On the same day, King Charles stripped his brother of his princely title, remaining honors, and distinctions, and requested that he vacate the residence following new revelations regarding his ties to convicted financier and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Royal biographer Robert Hardman told the BBC that many initially believed Andrew would simply move to another residence within the Windsor estate — such as Frogmore Cottage. However, according to Hardman, the decision marks a complete withdrawal from royal circles. “He is leaving Windsor, leaving royal Berkshire — he has effectively been exiled up the M11 to the royal equivalent of Siberia, where he will spend the rest of his life in Sandringham,” Hardman said.
