Putin declares Russia prepared to fight as U.S. delegation plans Moscow visit to discuss Ukraine peace proposals.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a U.S. delegation is expected in Moscow in the first half of next week to discuss the latest American proposal aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to ABC News. Speaking at a press conference during his visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Putin emphasized that no formal peace agreement has been reached in recent U.S.-Ukraine talks, only a list of issues to address.

Putin argued that signing any document with Ukraine’s current leadership is “pointless,” claiming that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lacks legitimacy to negotiate. He reiterated some of Russia’s strictest demands, including that Ukrainian troops must withdraw from territories Moscow claims. Putin stated that no ceasefire deal would be signed before Ukrainian forces leave these areas.

“If Ukraine’s troops leave the territory occupied, then military action will stop. If they won’t leave, then we will achieve that by armed force,” Putin said. He added that recognition of Russia’s control over Crimea, Donbas, and parts of eastern and southern Ukraine must be included in negotiations with the U.S.

Putin expressed confidence in Russia’s battlefield situation, asserting a “positive dynamic” across the front. He declared that Russia is “ready in principle” to “fight to the last Ukrainian.”

Regarding the upcoming visit of Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, Putin noted that the latest U.S. peace proposals “can be the basis for future agreements.” He added, “Overall, we see that the American side is taking into account our position, which was discussed before Anchorage and after Alaska. In some areas, we definitely need to sit down and seriously discuss specific issues.”

Putin also addressed a leaked recording of a phone call between Witkoff and top Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, in which Witkoff appeared to offer advice on presenting Russian peace plans to Trump. Putin dismissed the leak, calling it “maybe some kind of fake news” and emphasizing that eavesdropping is illegal in Russia. He characterized the incident as part of a broader “battle of opinions between the collective West and the U.S. over what needs to be done to end the hostilities.”Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a U.S. delegation is expected in Moscow in the first half of next week to discuss the latest American proposal aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to ABC News.
