The Cabinet of Ministers, in accordance with Resolution No. 39 of January 16, introduced changes to the procedure for providing compensation for housing damaged and destroyed by the war. Interfax-Ukraine reports this.

In particular, a limitation on the area of destroyed housing for which compensation is allocated is being introduced, namely no more than 150 square meters. m for an apartment and no more than 200 sq. m for a manor-type house, garden or country house.
The Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property records the area of the destroyed property, which exceeds the maximum area limits for calculating compensation.
“In the future, the area for which compensation was not calculated will be used in the event of filing an application for compensation through reparations or other sources, if such compensation is provided for by regulations,” says the text of the resolution.
According to the Ministry of Reconstruction, as of January 17, 2024, 95 Ukrainian families have already signed agreements for the purchase of housing using housing certificates issued under the compensation program for housing destroyed due to the war . In the work of commissions under local government bodies, there are more than 8 thousand applications for compensation.

Since December 2023, Ukrainians whose homes were damaged as a result of hostilities have the opportunity to receive assistance for carrying out not only urgent repairs (the amount of compensation is up to 200 thousand UAH), but also major repairs of their homes.
The maximum amount of compensation at this stage: 350 thousand UAH for restoring an apartment and 500 thousand UAH for a private home.
