AMCU returned application to French NJJ Capital to purchase lifecell

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) returned to the French NJJ Capital an application for the acquisition of the mobile operator lifecell (Lifecell LLC) and the mobile tower operator Ukrtauer LLC. This is stated in the committee’s response to a request from the Ukrainian edition of Forbes.

It is noted that the application was returned due to the documents not meeting the requirements.

“The materials attached to the applications did not contain a comprehensive information necessary for their consideration by the committee,” the department said.

The AMCU returned the applications to NJJ Capital on January 12, 2024.

NJJ Capital

French investment NJJ Capital is owned by billionaire Xavier Niel. Niel is the founder and majority shareholder of the third largest mobile operator in France, Iliad, (operating under the Free brand).

He is also a co-owner of the newspaper Le Monde, owner of the largest telecom provider in Monaco – Monaco Telecom, a Swiss telecom provider Salt Mobile and the Irish telecom company Eir.

The Ministry of Finance wrote that the Turkish telecommunications company Turkcell decided to sell the Ukrainian mobile operator lifecell to the French NJJ Capital.

< p>In addition to the mobile operator, Turkcell also sells a network of call centers (Global Bilgi LLC) and a mobile tower operator Ukrtauer LLC.
